TAKUJI HAMANAKA
Crown Shyness

June 6 - July 19

In his cut-paper collages, Takuji Hamanaka explores the porous boundary between pure abstraction and imagery that alludes to the visible world while also exploiting the tension between various dichotomies: repetition and disruption, precise geometry and organic-seeming modulation, inert flatness and a sense of space and movement. Kaleidoscopic and captivating, these compositions entice with vibrant colors, bold forms, and lively patterns that bely their own static nature, seeming to oscillate and pulse before our eyes.
